Hot on the heels of a news highlighting a possible Deluxe Repugnus, 2005 Boards Member Nevermore is bringing us another listing for several upcoming toys. Though we’ve heard about these toys before, we are now treated with new tidbits including price-points.

Generations Power of the Primes Deluxe Repugnus Coming in 2018?

$

Via a new listing on wholesale distributors ACD Distribution, we can report that it looks like we have a new, Deluxe class Repugnus figure coming our way at some point in the not-too-distant future to complement last year’s Grotusque and December 2016’s Twinferno. The listing has no image, only details including an SKU and a UPC – 630509626991. There is a listing price of $9.99, but given the current going rate of Deluxes and the listing stating this is a “special edition”, we’d expect that to be closer to $19.99.

The same website also includes a listing of Blast Off, who has been shown a couple of times in leaks. Blast Off has an SKU one digit different to that listed for Repugnus, strongly implying both deluxes are coming as a part of a single assortment. We’d guess given past trends and the use of “special edition” we’re looking at a new “May Madness” type exclusive. For those keeping record, the UPC for Blast Off is given as 630509626977.

We’d imagine with wholesalers now getting this information, a formal announcement is likely to follow from Hasbro very soon – and as the US Toy Fair is around a month away, we’d imagine that is when we will find out more.

Mech Planet Hot Soldiers HS-02 Legends Size Optimus Prime Prototype

3P Mech Planet has shared several new images of their Hot Soldiers Legends Size HS-02 Optimus Prime Prototype.

The images surfaced via Mech Toys Facebook and Weibo. This little figure proves to be really nice sculpted in a classic G1 style. It includes a Matrix (that you can put inside the chest), Optimus iconic blaster and energy axe, Roller (tiny), and a proper trailer compatible with previous Mech Toys figures like HS-09 Big Yellow Bee (Bumblebee) and HS-07 Iron Tin (Ironhide). Comparison pics with other figures of this line in robot mode are included but no images of the alt mode yet. There is no information on price or release date yet, but be sure to come back to our forums when it’s available.

You can check out the mirrored images on this news post and then sound off at the 2005 Boards!

TFW2005’s 2017 Third Party Staff Picks

$

Although we’re about halfway through the first month of the new year, there’s still a bit of reflection to be done on 2017 and the plethora of plastic robots it brought us. In particular, the TFW2005 staff have shifted their focus to the unofficial products crafted by the many third party companies we know and love. This past year was one full of surprises as Fans Toys churned out more gems for Masterpiece fans including the largest third party figure to-date, Mastermind Creations dropped jaws as if they were magnetized to the floor with their recreations of some very popular IDW characters, and Unique Toys released what some might call the “Dark Horse of 2017”. We also saw Make Toys take some highly-praised risks, Fans Hobby quickly rise through the ranks, and many others do what they do best, filling out the collections of many eager Transformers fans from all different backgrounds.

Want to see which figures made our year? Take the jump to read the staff’s thoughts on their top picks and who took home the silver and bronze, and share your thoughts and feelings in the discussion below!

Black Convoy

Unique Toys R-01 Peru Kill

One of the best examples of what a 3P company can do when they have the opportunity to bring you the best option for your collections. Lockdown was the iconic villain in AOE, but so far we only got an official Deluxe figure (with a remold for Takara Movie The Best line). Unique Toys did not only brought a movie-screen accurate Lockdown but a figure that really makes you think on “mass shifting”. You go from the elegant car mode to a really tall robot mode who looks awesome next to the recent MP Movie toys. You get the mask, rifle, hook and even his robotic pet. A very impressive transformation, maybe one of the best this year.

Runners up: GCreation Fuuma, Fans Toys FT-20 Terminus Giganticus, Fans Hobby Feilong, Fans Toys FT-10 Phoenix, Generation Toy GT-02 Tyrant

C310 Ginrai

Mastermind Creations R-18 Kultur

Third party saw many more pricey releases in 2017, which translates to far less purchases of figures in this market for me. While Kultur is quite affordable, thee figure’s quality is definitively premium. Both mode of Kultur are very solid. In tank mode, the vehicle is sold and imposing. All parts pegs in solidly, and the angular design is undoubtedly Cybertronian. In robot mode, this is where the figure shines. All major articulation points are present here, with well implemented hip ratchet joints (as well as a big toe joint!) that results in a very posible yet stable figure. Every part feel incredibly solid on this figure, and this leads Kultur to being the pinnacle of Mastermind Creations’ offering thus far

Runners up: Mastermind Creations R-27 CalidusIron Factory IF-EX18D Lord Scorpion (Dark Version)

Lumpy

IronFactory Dirge

He’s small, he’s fun, he’s Dirge.

Runners up: Robot Hero Durden and Barney

Matty

Mastermind Creations Kultur

Third Party purchasing was limited again this year due to focus and restraint. The market is overwhelmed with releases right now, but there are several top tier figures worthy of nomination. To a group of our Fandom, Tarn from More Than Meets The Eye captured our interest and never let go. This character was menacing, mysterious, and surely never seeing a worthy toy. Mastermind Creations capitalized on that and delivered a simplistic, engaging, and figure of the year toy in Kultur. Kultur doesn’t have one strong suit, it’s simply a phenomenal representation of a character fans wanted. In a market where Masterpiece toys are in high demand, MMC delivered a smooth Classics/Generations esque figure that stands out. It’s worthy of my top spot of 2017 in the Third Party realm.

Runners up:
Fans Toys Grinder, Mastermind Creations Calidus, Fans Toys Phoenix, Fans Toys Terminus Giganticus

Onslaught24

Fans Toys Grinder

I didn’t collect much third party this year, but what I did get really wowed me. However, nothing held a candle to Fans Toys Grinder. After slapping the reprolabel insignias on and attaching the G1 dino head, it looked like he jumped right out of the cartoon. Grinder held the position of “deskbot” the longest out of any third party figure (and possibly any figure in general) this year before going on the shelf. The figure is overflowing with expression and is imposing in all the right ways. He was one of the few purchases this year to break that cycle of “conveyor belt collecting” for me as I feel I was able to sit down and thoroughly enjoy him for as long as I needed. As usual, Fans Toys never ceases to improve, especially as they released their crowning Dibot to finish the team. While their other releases, Phoenix and Terminus Giganticus, were incredibly fun and major feats of engineering, TG’s size and Phoenix’s proportions/design hindered their poseability some, which is a huge criteria for me. Bottom line: Grinder is a show-stealer and really puts the “Masterpiece” in Masterpiece-inspired.

Fans Hobby Feilong, Fans Toys Phoenix, Fans Toys Terminus Giganticus, Mastermind Creations Cyclops (reissue), Robot Hero Durden/Barney

XTB Klaatu

2017 was supposed to be a great year for Cosmos. Three different companies announced “masterpiece” Cosmos figures, and as the self-proclaimed #1 Cosmos fan I was PUMPED. Nothing was going to stop me from getting these figures. Space Racer came out first, and he was a very fun toy, and remains my favorite of the three to pick up and fiddle with. XTB Klaatu came out next, and dazzled with a build quality and design I haven’t seen in other XTB releases. And they made this happen.

MMC was last out of the gate with Omne, and at first glance I was in love. Great feel, proportions, and posability. Then he broke. And it happened to others. And then waists started exploding. So here we are nearly two months later and I don’t have replacement parts, though MMC is in contact now and promising to fix things. As a result this otherwise nice figure is going to be listed below the KMart Universe Cosmos KO’s I picked up for the time being to keep my dreams of an all-Cosmos list intact.

Top pick of the year is Klaatu. Good job Keith Fantasy.

Runners up: ToyWorld Space Racer, ToyWord Space Racer (clear), KMart Universe Cosmos KOs, Ocular Max Omne

ORIO

MMC Reformatted Kultur
MMC Reformatted Tyrantron

Now, before I gush over these interpretations of IDW’s most ruthless, I just want to point out that my 3rd party collecting has dwindled considerably. I don’t dip into the Masterpiece-alike figures too often and that is what currently dominates the 3rd party market. MMC scratches my itch for figures I can include in my Generations/Classics display. I just needed to preface that so I don’t seem bias. Kultur And Tyranotron rule. Plain and simple. These two figures aren’t overly complicated just for the sake of being difficult to transform. That in of itself, is why I continue to support their Reformatted line. What’s the point of having a really cool, expensive figure if you’re too afraid to transform it? They have nailed down that very basic and fundamental understanding of what makes transforming toys fun and Kultur and Tyranotron are both excellent examples of that. Take that, add in super fun features like Kultur’s removable magnetic mask that can be worn on Tyranotron’s chest, various weapon choices and easy to swap out heads and armor and my pants start to shrink.

Runners up:
MMC Reformatted Oberon, MMC Reformatted Titanika, MMC Reformatted Boreas, MMC Reformatted Turben

Razerwire

Fans Toys Phoenix

If you know me well, you’ll know about my pet peeve about Jetfire/Skyfire. I’ve always wanted a Skyfire toy since the first time I saw him on TV, but we never got him. All we got was Jetfire, which to me as a Macross fan, is never acceptable. But FT answered the bell and released a Skyfire that is superb. My one gripe with it is the lack of weapon storage in alt mode. Other than that, it easily wins 3P figure of the year for me. It has the size, the look, the transformation that’s perfectly satisfying and so on.

Runners up: MakeToys Contact Shot, MakeToys Downbeat, MMC Reformatted Kultur, Fans Toys Terminus Giganticus

Seawing

TFC Toys Thousandkills

My third party figure collecting has diminished substantially since the third party manufacturers shifted their focus to the Masterpiece and Legends scales. As a collector of mainly CHUG style figures, especially combiners, my choices this year was pretty limited. That said, my top Third Party figure for 2017 is TFC Toys Thousandkills. I have always liked the charm and goofiness of G1 Tentakil’s squid-monster mode and he is one of my favorite Seacons. TFC Toys has done a great job on their Poseidon combiner with updated engineering and aesthetics while keeping the versatility of the G1 toy intact. Thousandkills looks menacing in robot mode with the nasty scowl on his face, piercing yellow light-piped eyes, and is armed literally with eight posable tentacles—which are ready to crush you! And in his beastly sea monster mode, his monstrous face is even creepier and more vicious than the G1 toy. Plus there are added extensions to the tentacles to extend his reach. His limb modes do a great job as limbs but the tentacles do get in the way and some of the segments should be removed to make them more manageable. He does have a gun mode just like the G1 toy and it looks good but seems to be a little heavy and I wonder if the weight puts too much stress on the included plastic stands and if it will fail over time. The build quality and paint are top notch and thus the figure feels heavy and good in your hand; just watch out for the sharp bits—which are everywhere. Whether buying him as a one-off for your collection or to complete your Poseidon gestalt, TFC toys did a great job with this figure in keeping the versatility of the G1 toy intact while updating its aesthetics, engineering and build quality.

Runners up: Perfect Effect PC-16, TFC Toys Trinity Force Red Knight

Smashs

Unique Toys RT-01 Peru Kill aka AOE Lockdown

I don’t even know how to begin to explain the black magic UT conjured up to make this happen. AOE/TLK figures are not supposed to be possible with such accuracy in both modes. This has me extremely excited for the new 3P movie figures coming soon.

Runner’s up – Fans Toys PhoenixFans Toys KootFans Toys ApacheFans Toys Terminus Gigantus

Superquad7

Fans Toys Terminus Giganticus

This has been a stellar year for 3rd party figure offerings – so much, in fact, that I’m not able to keep up as I’d like. I’d wanted this figure ever since we’d seen the first photos, but I didn’t think that I’d be able to swing at it just due to the price. Well, things worked out for me, and I was able to pull this figure in as my main Christmas gift! I was a bit nervous, as I wasn’t for sure if it would live up to the anticipation I’d had for it.

I’m glad I was wrong.

This figure is just straight up awesome. Of course, the sheer size of this thing is the dominant characteristic of the thing. This figure is a testament of just where the 3rd party arena has arrived now. However, this figure is strong in being a fun toy. The transformation is engaging – it’s not to fiddly or finicky, as some 3rd party figures tend to be, and it’s not so involved that it’s a time-sucker just to go from mode to mode. It totally captures the character it represents, both in aesthetic and playability. In short, it’s everything I’d ever want in an Masterpiece Omega Supreme.

Runners up: MakeToys Contact Shot, X-Transbots Klaatu, Fans Toys Phoenix, Fans Toys Grinder

Vangelus

Bold Forms Gladius

This year I’ve decided to highlight the unofficial toy that made me think the most, rather than the simple task of picking the one I liked best. Most of my top favs are already being highlighted by fellow staff, and I’ll list off a few down below. But Bold Forms Gladius is a piece that epitomizes exploration of concept to my current path of thinking more about this hobby that I still enjoy. Obviously, the figure has a long and storied development history, spearheaded by a team of (I think) literally one guy, and it shows. For better and for worse, Gladius is bursting with the energy of a one-man passion project, from the extremely specific decisions and solutions in its engineering, to the “listen I’m sitting down with you to tell you how my thing works” tone of the instruction manual, which goes into meticulous detail about some concepts and then blows past others as it runs into an apparent budget wall for its page-count. Gladius is riddled with flaws, but just as riddled with intrigue and outright sparks of genius. In a market where poor releases often fall into the two buckets of “too fragile” or “too complicated”, Gladius remains a piece I wouldn’t recommend to most people, but that I am extremely pleased to own and inspect. It is a transforming toy filled with small victories and critical faults, whose very existence and engineering tell the compelling story of a designer who I hope and pray can get one more chance to make a thing that he wants to make. (Maybe with one or two more core design team members to challenge and riff ideas against.)

Runners up:
MMC Kultur (Still the strongest MMC release to date, for the sheer combination of smooth transformation, solid silhouettes, and delicious handfeel)
UT Peru Kill (A toy with borderline magical transformation design that never forgets to stay smooth and unfrustrating)
MakeToys Galaxy Meteor (Slick and pleasant high-end transforming toy experience ladled lovingly onto frigging Galaxy Force, in the kind of release I didn’t think this G1 Whale marketplace would allow)
Iron Factory Seekers & Coneheads (Iron Factory rides the line of a chunk aesthetic just right, to allow these articulated jetbots with waist joints! to have a transformation that takes just long enough to make me smile)

Blue Sky Studios Acquire Transformers Gift And Stationary License – Bumblebee Movie And Evergreen

Blue Sky Studios (not to be confused with the team developing Ice Age movies) has acquired Hasbro License to produce Gift And Stationary items based on the Transformers property. Their official website has been updated with the announcement.

“We are excited to add Transformers to our product lineup for 2018. We will be transforming the Stationery industry as well as bringing some exciting Gadgets that will transform your life.

Keep your eyes open at the Spring Fair where you will be able to see our Gadgets in disguise and core stationery lines for 2018. Not only will we have the new Transformers movie we will also be producing new Bumble lines to go with the 2018 film out in June.

We are put everything into bringing you innovative gadgets and stationery for Transformers as such we know that they will fly off the shelves.”

We do believe that the June 2018 date for Bumblebee: The Movie is a mistake since the movie was pushed to December this year. Nevertheless, the company will be at Booth 5H71 on 4th of February at Spring Fair UK 2018. If nothing comes out of UK and Nuremberg Toy Fairs this year, Spring Fair seems to be the next opportunity to check out licensed merchandise from Bumblebee: The Movie, prior to New York Toy Fair 2018. You can apply for a free ticket, right here.

Stick with TFW2005 for the best Toy Fair Season coverage.

2018 Transformers Toy Listings just keep on coming. The latest entry is a rather cute one. Plushies.

Two new listings on ACD Distributions (which was responsible for the listings yesterday) identifies a new Hasbro initiative titled Clip Bots and a separate one for Bumblebee.

We currently do not know what category these Plushies fall under, but it’s most likely that it’s for the Bumblebee Movie.

Transformers @ The Moon are back with more unused audio from the Generation 1 Transformers cartoon. This time out, we have almost 8 minutes from the recording session of the episode A Plague of Insecticons, the December 1984 episode that introduced the Insecticons. There’s a mix of dialogue which never made it into the episode (including a great line from Brawn insulting Rumble) and some lines of direction from the late, great Wally Burr guiding the production of some B-dialog, eating sounds, combat sounds, and similar.

You can check it out below:

James Roberts attending TFNation 2018

TFNation have announced the next guest for TFNation 2018. Joining the existing guest lineup is the fan-favorite Transformers comic writer, James Roberts!

James Roberts got his start as a part of the Transmasters UK community, even penning his own fan novel, Eugenesis. His big break has come with IDW Publishing’s line of Transformers comics and a trilogy of loved Transformers books: Last Stand of the Wreckers, More than Meets the Eye, and Lost Light. Last Stand of the Wreckers, co-authored with fellow Transmasters UK alumni Nick Roche, was a massive hit that drove him the darker side of a massive galactic war, as well as propelling obscure characters like Overlord, Ironfist / Fisitron, and Rotorstorm to greater levels of popularity. Such was the popularity of the series that James was given an ongoing series to write, More than Meets the Eye, which has garnered many awards as a series as well as for James himself personally, and has become a darling in some parts of the fandom for how well it develops the characters. His latest work, Lost Light, is a continuation of More than Meets the Eye which continues to excite month on month, as well as garnering further awards. James will be available to meet attendees, sign autographs, and sell scripts throughout the three day run of TFNation from 17 – 19 August 2018.

TFNation 2018 will be taking place over the weekend of 17-19 August 2018, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in Birmingham in England. James Roberts will be joining fellow guests musician Stan Bush and voice actor D.C. Douglas, with many more guests yet to be revealed! Check out the TFNation homepage for more information.

Thanks to our very own TFW2005 member Nevermore, we can report that Transformers: The Last Knight Autobots Unite 1-Step Turbo Changer 2-pack Is Out in Germany.

This pack contains 1-step versions of TLK Bumblebee and Hot Rod and it’s part of the “Autobots Unite” sub-line. It was spotted at Intertoys in Moers.

As Nevermore let us remember, this 1-Step 2-pack has been available as an Asda exclusive in the UK, as a Prisma exclusive in Finland, as a Tottus exclusive in Peru, as a Walmart exclusive in Mexico and as an ICA Hemma exclusive in Sweden. In the US, it’s officially a Walmart exclusive, but was never found in stores and only available from the Walmart website around the same time it was instead found at discounter Ross.

Happy hunting for all German fans. You can check out the mirrored image after the jump and then sound off at the 2005 Boards.

Transformers Authentics 7 Inch Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Grimlock

Hasbro have updated their online catalog with new pages for the Transformers Authentics line. On show here is Grimlock – who we’ve seen from previous leaks – alongside different versions of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. According to the Hasbro catalog pages, the trio are at 7 inch scale – which is borne out by the way that Optimus Prime and Bumblebee feature some additional articulation and detail to go with their bigger size. It has been suggested this will be like the previous Cyber Series – which offered different characters in an assortment of scales. These ones also come with “some assembly required” – Grimlock’s dino head and wings, and Optimus’ cab roof both need to be assembled after freeing the figures from their plastic prisons.

It’s also suggested that the Bumblebee and Optimus Prime are the previously hinted “Project Storm” figures, based on their product numbers on the Hasbro catalog matching up to the item numbers on their online catalog.

Check out images of the three new figures attached to this post.

The retooled one has slots on the red post on the back while the original has a solid red post. My original’s box was stamped 72921 and the new one’s was stamped 73101”.

A very useful information indeed for all POTP collectors. You can check out the comparison images of the original mold (first) with the new mold change (second) after the jump and then sound off at the 2005 Boards!

Thanks to 2005 Boards member Lucas35 for sharing the Interview with IDW Transformers Vs. Visionaries Writer Magdalene Visaggio in our forums.

The interview surfaced via womenwriteaboutcomics website and it gives us Margaret’s ideas and plans for reinventing the Visionaries after 30 years of silence. She also explains how they were placed in Cybertron on this story and tells us a bit about how they decided to kill a major Transformers character on the very first issue of the series.

You can read the full interview here or you can check it out after the jump, but there will be major spoilers if you haven’t read this comic yet. You can then join to the discussion at the 2005 Boards!

For the past few years, IDW has been publishing comics set in what’s called the “Hasbroverse”, which consists of various Hasbro properties such as TransformersG.I Joe, M.A.S.K, ROM and the Micronauts. The latest addition to this universe are the Visionaries, made up of two factions: the heroic Spectral Knights and the nefarious Darkling Lords.

Issue #2 incentive cover by Phillip Murphy

In 1987, Hasbro launched yet another toyline called the Visionaries with an animated series produced by Sunbow (best known for producing Transformers), as well as a comic by Star ComicsUnfortunately, the franchise was soon canceled due to its general unpopularity, resulting in the series and comics being ended prematurely. The series fell into obscurity for thirty years—until, in 2017, a creative team at IDW was gathered to produce the new comic Transformers vs. Visionaries.

Issue #1 of 1987 Visionaries comic (Written by Jim Salicrup, Art by Mark Bagley

The new story follows the Visionaries living as refugees deep within the bowels of Cybertron after their homeworld Prysmos is destroyed from a spell gone awry by the wizard Merklynn. The good Spectral Knights and evil Darkling Lords must set aside their differences and find a way to ensure the survival of what little they have left.

In the first issue of five, we meet the wizard Merklynn and his team of Visionaries living in their guarded city, New Prysmos, deep within Cybertron. The Visionaries and Cybertronians, Kup and Ironhide, try to negotiate peace and a way for both their species to coexist on such little resources but Darkling Lord leader Virulina was not interested in making peace; in fact, Virulina hoped with the power of the mysterious Talisman, she and her Darkling Lords could seize control over Cybertron.

The first issue took the Transformers fandom by storm, being stated as an improvement in quality amongst the Hasbroverse stories but was also smeared for the controversial decision in killing off a fan favorite. Eisner award-winner, and writer (with artists Fico Ossio, David Garcia Cruz and Andrew Griffith and presumably an unnamed letterer) of Transformers Vs. Visionaries, Magdalene Visaggio joins us here to speak about her time on the comic.

Firstly, how long have you been a fan of Transformers? Was it always your dream to write a comic for them?

I’ve been a Transformers fan to varying degrees since I was very little; they’ve always been around, and G2 was airing when I was eight or nine years old. But Transformers was never a passion of mine, nor was writing it a lifelong dream; when I was pitched this book, IDW EIC David Hedgecock asked me if I wanted to write Visionaries; the Transformers came in later. What got me excited was the idea of reviving and reinventing a largely forgotten franchise; the Transformers were the object they’d be acting against, but the actors would be the Visionaries.

The Visionaries have been silent for 30 years, did you have any say in any changes made to any characters?

Fico and I got basically all the say. Reinventing the Visionaries was very much done internally between me and Fico, and we presented what we wanted to do to IDW and then to Hasbro, and got the sign-off. We looked seriously at the characters and their situation, and then had to think, well, how do we integrate this into the IDW Hasbroverse, which is very sci-fi heavy, and have it still feel organic? We played a lot with more overtly sci-fi angles—at one point, the Visionaries, which are aliens, I might add, were much more obviously so. We decided to move away from the high fantasy aesthetic and worked to develop one that might make sense for a society forcibly removed from its technological origins. We had a very free hand.

In this incarnation, how did the Visionaries come to be?

About three-hundred years ago, the planet Prysmos was a highly technological society, and magic, what we call in-universe the Arcana Vast, was a sad, ancient religion practiced by virtually nobody except for Merklynn, the last great wizard. He was offended by this, and cast a spell that would realign the planet’s three stars, wiping out all technology on the planet so that magic would ascend again. Three centuries later, the spell destabilizes, and the gravitational forces of the stars re-aligning tears Prysmos apart, forcing them to flee, ultimately, to Cybertron. The Visionaries in this version of the universe are Merklynn’s force of magical soldiers, kind of like the Jedi, who were rent in two over ideological differences.

Were there any challenges you came across while writing the comic? Which scenes were you personal favorites?

Probably simply being onboarded with Transformers continuity and trying to get a feel for how to write them. I’ve been checked out on Transformers for a long time, so I had a lot of reading to do.

And my favorite scenes haven’t been published yet.

So why was Cybertron chosen as the new home for the Visionaries?

He’s [Merklynn] offended it even exists. He hates machinery, computers, technology.

Now this is a pretty high stakes comic. Are fans in for any more surprises in comic issues?

It’d be a pretty boring comic if they weren’t.

Now we all just have to know: how did it feel to kill off Kup? There’s been quite an uproar about it.

Like I said, I haven’t been up to date on Transformers. But I knew and loved Kup from the 1986 movie, and so when they told me he was going to die, I was just shocked. Utterly, utterly shocked that the responsibility for taking out friggin’ Kup was going to be landing in my hands. Kup has always been one of my favorites (Kup, Springer, Ultra Magnus, Arcee, and yes, even Hot Rod are my TF dream team), so I immediately understood this wasn’t going to be a small thing. So I never took this lightly.

That’s why I structured the first issue the way I did; Kup takes a lot of the spotlight, and I showed him as the one pushing for something better; the old seen-it-all got to play idealist at the end, and I loved being able to do that for him.

Lastly, do you have any advice for any aspiring writers out there?

Writing will never be your job until you treat it like it already is.
