Hasbro held their 2016 4th Quarter (and 2016 Overall) Financial Call this morning and they are happily moving towards 2017.
Brian Goldner – CEO of Hasbro told the following regarding Transformers:
“Powered by our all-screen, year-round storytelling, Transformers had a strong finish to 2016, posting double-digit growth in the second half of the year and is well positioned for the next chapter of the Transformers franchise
Significantly, Hasbro has two major films featuring our brands: Transformers: The Last Knight opening in June and My Little Pony: The Movie comes to theatres in October.
New launches from Backflip Studios, including Transformers: Earth Wars and Dragonvale World, are performing well.”
During the Q&A session, Debbie Hancock (Hasbro Vice President) and Mr. Goldner stated that they look forward to the 2017 movie slate which includes Transformers: The Last Knight and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Brian stated that a strong line-up of figures are planned for TLK and we will get to see it during New York Toy Fair 2017.
2nd half of last year, Transformers sales were up in a significant way. Transformers: Rescue Bots, Robots In Disguise and Combiner Wars web series helped to keep the momentum going even on a non-movie year. This year being a movie year will enable Hasbro to accelerate that business further. Hasbro is also preparing for 2018 where a movie based on Autobot Bumblebee will take place.
They also stated that Boulder Media Studio acquired by Hasbro last year will also focus on multiple Animated Series to expand Hasbro brands.
