066 Galvatron Robot

What did he say his name was?

Galvatron!

Yes, our next gallery is the bigger, badder reincarnation of Megatron who debuted in Transformers the Movie, Galvatron. A Voyager class, this version of Galvatron transforms into robot, space cannon, and spaceship modes. Robot and cannon modes are both very faithful to the look of the original character, while the spaceship is new and looks a bit haphazard, like it was an afterthought added when a memo came back asking for a third mode. The robot mode has decent poseability – with waist articulation and even ankle tilts – though the Titan Master “faceplate helmet” gimmick means head movement is close to non-existent. Coupled with how this faceplate does not really work for Galvatron – the face is too recessed – and it throws off the look of what is otherwise the best Galvatron we’ve had to date. There’s also an issue with the arm articulation – it is hampered when the cannon is attached – though this is more forgivable since that was the original design. If you are willing to shell out on extra accessories, both of these issues can be remedied via add ons from Shapeways. I should also mention the Titan Master, who is essentially a little Megatron – he’s a cool way of representing how Megatron becomes Galvatron, and completely in line with the line’s gimmick.

Overall – Titans Return Galvatron remains one of the best versions of the character which we have seen since the inception of the Classics line. While not without flaws, he is a lot of fun to play with – a factor which he has in common with all of the Titans Return toys to date. Check out his gallery below:
